CAMP YOUNG AT HEART will again be hosted at Aldersgate United

Methodist Church, August 29-31, 9am to 2pm each day with time for a
brown bag lunch. Cost is $20 per individual for the entire three days,
$35 per couple. Three class periods each day, with classes ranging
including spirituality, digital photography, quilting, genealogy, painting,
singing, nature, tai chi, and Charlottesville history. Registration forms

IN SEARCH OFRINGERS!
The Aldersgate Ringers are looking for a few more ringers to fill out our
merry little choir! Our year begins in September (the week of Labor
Day) and ends in June. We rehearse weekly on Tuesday evenings from
6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., and we provide our musical offerings about
every six weeks. We would love to have you join usmusic reading is

allow you to ring joyfully with us! We would love to have all ages join
usyes, youth as well! If your schedule does not allow you to rehearse
with us regularly, we are always thrilled to have you as a regular

Welcome to our worship service!

School Supply Update

On August 20th members of Aldersgate packed and delivered over
130 bags of school supplies to Greer Elementary School. These
supplies will help underserved children at Greer begin the school
year with supplies they need to help make for a successful learning
experience. Because of Aldersgates generosity, we were able to
provide not just the bags of school supplies to Greer, but also had

sufficient supplies to provide The Africa Lighthouse Baptist Temple

Our Sunday schedule for all 6th-12th graders beginning on Sunday,

September 11th is as follows:
10:05-10:50am- Youth Sunday School (Youth Room)
3:15-4:45pm- Youth Praise Band (Sanctuary)
4:45-6pm- Youth Study Camp (Homework and/or games) (Youth Room)
6-7:30pm- Youth Group (Hospitality Room, Kitchen, Youth Room, and
all over the church sometimes)

planning for our upcoming Youth Group Year last Sunday, we had great
fellowship and conversations! Our planning process was a great way to
make sure everyone was able to share thoughts and ideas! If you'd like

Attention All Singers

Volunteer Opportunity

The next Chancel Choir rehearsal is on Wednesday, September 7, at

7:30pm. Anyone interested in singing with the choir is invited to attend!

Our bi-annual childrens consignment sale, Here WEE Grow Again, is

coming soon and we need your help! Volunteer hours are available
from September 8 through 24 right here at AUMC. If you would like the

Aldersgate Alive
The Autumn edition of Aldersgate Alive, our church magazine, is set to
be distributed on Sunday, September 11. If you would like to contribute,

photos is 12noon TOMORROW, August 29.

Say hi to new friends!

More greeters are needed for the 11am service. No experience is
necessary, and all are welcome. Greeters sign up through a weekly email
and are responsible for greeting from 10:30am until 11:15am on the
Sundays they choose to volunteer. Greeters also choose to greet at either
the upstairs doors, near the office, or downstairs by the portico. Please

A Welcome for Bishop Lewis

Bishop Young Jin Cho will retire on August 31. A welcoming service for
Bishop Sharma Lewis will be held 10:30 am to 12noon Saturday,
September 17, at Reveille UMC, 4200 Cary Street Road, Richmond. If you
are interested in carpooling to this event, please check the box on the
Communication Card on the flap of todays worship bulletin.

Vacation Notice
Our Assistant Pastor of Congregational Care Don MacNicoll will be on
vacation from Sunday Sept 4 through Sunday Sept 18. If emergency
pastoral care is needed during that time, please call the church office (9735806), or the parsonage if after hours (973-3214). Thank you.

A mile in their shoes ...

Your Aldersgate Outreach and Missions Team is responding to another
need from a nearby school. Woodbrook Elementary School is requesting
some inexpensive or lightly used sneakers, so that children who do not
have sneakers can be provided appropriate footwear for PE class. Our
goal is to provide about 20 pair of sneakers (and white athletic socks
too), ranging in size from childrens size 10 up to adult size 7/8 (for both
boys and girls). Please consider helping with this project collection bins
will be made available inside both entrances to the church. If you prefer
making a monetary contribution, write Woodbrook sneakers on the
memo line of your check, and we will be happy to do the shopping for
you. Thanks for helping children of our community.

Income = $407,419
Expense + mortgage principle = $461,058
Variance = ($52,045)
Current Assets (Wells Fargo) = $43,990
Current Liabilities = $34,654 (includes $19,000 to Virginia Conference)
Current Assets - Liabilities = $9,336
Giving in July 2016 increased compared to July 2015 by more than
$16,000. However, we are still running a deficit of more than $52,000.
We will need generosity in giving through the end of the year. Our full
year budgeted expenses are $810,662, so we need approximately
$400,000 in the next five months.
