Deck The Halls Is Coming! Stop by the Deck The Halls table outside the Worship Center today
to pick up information about donating and decorating a tree or wreath for the 2nd annual Deck The
Halls Silent Auction. This fundraiser for the Creative Arts Studio Grace Rate Scholarship Fund will
take place Nov. 28 through Dec. 2. The theme this year is “All The Songs Of Christmas,” and we’d
like you to join the fun! SoJ’s youth will also help with the event so a portion of the proceeds will
benefit their mission trip expenses and they can earn community service points as well!

Joyful Reader News – SoJ’s bookstore, The Joyful Reader, is taking orders from the SERRV
International catalog today and next Sunday. SERRV International establishes fair trade
relationships with thousands of artisans and farmers around the world to produce handcrafted
items and foods. Come to the bookstore to see the new fall catalog and place your order!

No Experience Necessary Study Meets Today – Join us at 10:45 a.m. in the Youth Room for No
Experience Necessary an adult study for people who have attended the 9 a.m. service.

Hispanic Worship Today – Join us today at 1 pm for a new bilingual sermon and Bible Study

2008 Burundi Mission Trip Info Meeting Oct. 24 – If you’re interested in learning more about
SoJ’s 2nd Mission Trip to Burundi, Africa, next summer, plan to join us for the Wednesday Night Live
supper from 6:15 to 7 p.m. October 24th. Remember to sign up for supper on the 21st!

SoJ Women’s Event Oct. 26 – All women are invited to “Porch Time for Soul Sisters” on Friday,
October 26 from 7-10 p.m. Come as you are to connect with other women for fun, food and
fellowship in The Inlet (SoJ’s youth room!). Sign up at the Welcome Center.

Burundi Talent Show Nov. 11 – Cornerstone Chapel is planning a fund raiser talent show / silent
auction / bake sale to benefit Burundi at SoJ, Sunday, Nov.11th at 5 p.m. If you’re interested in
helping us co-host or want to be in the show or donate items for the auction, see Kathy Raue.

Interfaith Hospitality Network News

 THANKS! We have concluded another blessed week of serving 4 homeless families here at SoJ.
Thanks to everyone who served in any way! Our next week will be January 6-13, 2008.
 JOB / MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY! IHN has a critical need for a van driver to transport guests
from host churches to jobs/ schools in the morning and afternoon. Pay: $10/hour. Must have
clean drivers license and background check. If interested, contact Mary at 407-893-4599.

October Outreach Team Project - SoJ's Outreach Team is collecting 120 jars of Peanut Butter &
Jelly for Harvest of Hope. Place donations in the wagon by the cafe by Oct. 21. Monetary
Donations are welcomed too. Mark an SoJ offering envelope “HOH” and place in offering basket.

Free Transportation For Seniors To SoJ Available! The Congregational Care Team is offering
free transportation to SoJ activities for seniors. This service will be coordinated by Pam Rousseau
and will require additional volunteers to make it work. Sign-up at the Welcome Center if you'd like
to serve in this ministry or if you know of someone who would like to utilize the service.

Bicycle Ministry – This unique SoJ ministry provides bicycles to people in need. Volunteers are
needed. Meet in the back storage room at 10 a.m. the 2nd Saturday each month, and 10 a.m.
Wednesdays. Sign up at the Welcome Center. Questions? Call Will Stevenback, 407-401-1963.

Quilting Team – SOJ’s quilters meets the 1st and 3rd Mondays at 9:30am in the large classroom.
Please join us and plan to go to lunch together. We also need volunteers to cut squares and sew

Calling all SPLASH ZONE Parents! We are encouraging all parents to assist the Kidmo emcee

Youth Hang Out Time Saturday! Come hang out Saturday from 7-10 p.m. at >>The Inlet))).
Invite your friends and enjoy some games and activities, watch movies, eat food (bring $2-$3 to
cover costs), bring your instruments and have a jam session or just chat with friends.
First Communion Classes – At SoJ parents decide when their children are ready for communion.
A 2 session class for parents and children will be held from 2:30-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14 and from
12:30-2:30p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28 (lunch provided!). Sign-up at the Welcome Center!

Youth/Family Movie “Facing the Giants” Oct. 21 – Youth and their families are invited to a
free screening of this Christian movie followed by a discussion time, Sunday, October 21, 3-6 p.m.
Never give up…never back down…never lose faith…an action packed drama about a Christian
high school football coach who uses his faith to battle giants of fear and failure.

Trunk or Treat @ SoJ Oct. 27 – Trunk or Treat, Saturday, October 27, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at SoJ, is an
alternative or addition to Halloween festivities complete with carnival games and prizes.
Decorated car trunks will be passing out candy to “trunk or treaters!” Sign up at the Welcome
Center to decorate your trunk. We’re encouraging decorations to be creatively “not scary” and if
possible to utilize Bible characters this year. Setup will be from 5:30-6:00. Wrapped candy
donations are also being collected in the pumpkin in the lobby.

Hands Full Of Bibles – Each Fall at SoJ it is our custom to provide Bibles to parents of every child
/ youth at SoJ, 1st grade and up, who do not yet have one. If you would like your son or daughter to
receive a Bible later this Fall please sign-up at the Welcome Center soon!

SoJ Hosts Cub Scout Pack – SoJ sponsors Cub Scout Pack 134 at 7 p.m. on Monday nights. We
are also seeking adults willing to serve on the Pack Committee. If any adult or any boy 6 to 11
years old is interested in being a Cub Scout, contact Chuck Call (407-375-4548).

Children’s Choir – This choir for kids in grades 1-5 meets on Wednesdays, 7-8 p.m. New
members are always welcome.

Joy Singers – This adult choir is for anyone, regardless of experience! They sing occasionally on
Sunday mornings to provide special music or added support to the worship team. They will not
meet this week but will resume next Wednesdays, 7-8 p.m. in the Worship Center.

Joyful Noise – This is the Sunday morning worship team, which prepares new music each week to
lead our congregation in worship at 9:00 and 10:45. If interested, see Phil about taking a Musical
Gifts Assessment to be a part of this group.

Drama Team – SoJ's Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing
their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience. If you would like to be involved in
the Drama Team, please contact Sandy and Doug Gaston at 407-382-4027.

Private Music Lessons – SoJ’s Creative Arts Studio has 12 instructors teaching almost every
instrument and voice. For more information or to register, pick up a flyer in the Welcome Center.
