An endangered language is a language that is at

risk of falling out of use as its speakers die out or
shift to speaking another language. Language loss
occurs when the language has no more native
speakers, and becomes a "dead language". ...

Class discussion:

Should we encourage saving all

languages, or should we instead have
everyone speaking one language, such
as Esperanto, the international
constructed language?

Groupwork Project:

In your Groups choose 4 different continents to research the following.

Use the following link to find one language each from:
Africa, North America, South America, East and Central Asia, South Asia,
Europe, and Oceania (Australia and surrounding islands) that is spoken by
fewer than 1,000 people;
note down a few facts about the language:
(who speaks it and how many people?
where they live,
what other languages it is related to,
what major languages are threatening it,
Is it a written and spoken language?
Try finding 1 word and writing it in that language with its English translation.
and report to the class:
