Admission Requirements
You must complete 15 units of high school courses to fulfill

the subject requirement. At least 7 of those 15 units must be


taken in the last 2 years of high school. (A unit is equal to an
academic year, or 2 semesters, of study.)
You must earn at least a "C" grade in these "a-g" subject
requirements. California residents with a 3.0 GPA Nonresidents must have a 3.4 GPA or higher.
The University assigns extra points for up to 8 UC-approved
honors-level and advanced placement "a-g" courses taken in
the last 3 years of high school.
You may qualify for admission to the University by earning
high scores on the ACT Assessment plus Writing or SAT
Reasoning Test, and two SAT Subject Tests.

Housing/ Community
The University guarantees two years of housing to
student
One third of the student s live on campus. Juniors and
seniors generally live off campus
UCSD has its own support staff, dorms, and dining
facilities.
Students within each college enjoy small classes,
specialized activities, and an intimate learning
environment.
The atmosphere on campus is relatively quiet and laid
back inspite of the intensity of academics.
UCSD tends to be more conservative politically than
other UCs, but more than 200 students clubs and
organizations meet most students interests.

Athletics
Students are active in the university's sports and
recreation programs which include 23 varsity
sports for men and women, 13 competitive sports
clubs, and 27 recreation clubs.
Men's sports, basketball, baseball, crew, cross
country, fencing, golf, soccer, swimming and
diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and
water polo.
Women's sports basketball, crew, cross country,
fencing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving,
tennis, track and field, volleyball, and water polo.

Space assignments are based by
primarily on gender. Continuing on
transfers have the option to select gender
and inclusive housing for the second year
at the village. This option is not available
for new transfers.
