Classroom Demographics

These are the classroom demographics from a third grade class in Washington County School District.
There is a total of 24 students, between the ages eight and nine, in the class.
Classroom Environment: The desks are set up in six groups of four with one desk off to the side. There is
a space at the back of the room for the students to sit on the floor in a group. The classroom has a white
board and smart board at the front of the room. It also has an elmo to project on the smart board. The class
has four iPads. At the back of the classroom there is a small group table. There are two other smaller tables for small group work. The classroom has books displayed at the front of the room for independent
reading. The teachers desk is in the front right corner of the room.

Differentiation and accommodations: I will differentiation and make accommodations for ELL
students by using the SIOP model in my lessons. Students will have the opportunity to use
speak, read, and write about what they are learning. I will also use many accommodations such
as visual aids and manipulatives in my teaching. I will also be aware of my body language to
emphasize important points .

Differentiation and accommodation: I will also use SIOP in my lessons to differentiation and
accommodate for students with academic IEPs in the class. I will allow these students more
time to finish their work with more support. In some cases I will provide these students with
work that is at their level.

high achieving learners or 8% of the class. !

Differentiation and accommodations: I will differentiate for the SPED students by giving them
work at their level. These students are pulled out a couple times a day for reading and math
groups. I will differentiate for the high level students by providing opportunities for them to be
challenged and extensions of the lesson that require higher level thinking.

Differentiation and accommodation: The behavior problems in this class include not following
instruction and lack of focus. To help these students stay on task I will state my expectations
and follow up. I will also use cues to remind these students of what it looks like to be on task
and following instructions.

Graph 6 shows the percentage of the students in the class that have free or reduced lunch
comported to students that pay full price. This is determined by the parents income. 50% or
12 students pay full price, 42% or 10 have free lunch, and 8% or 2 have reduced lunch.
Graph 7 shows the percentages of students on free, reduced, and full price lunches for the
whole school. Compared to the records for the school the class has less students on free
or reduced lunch. !

Differentiation and accommodations: I will use SIOP in all of my lessons. I will use a lot of
visuals and exposures to new concepts for these students. These students also already have intervenes planned.
