UNIT 4

Introduction

Teachers just like architects, engineers, and other

professionals are designers. Teaching calls for planning and
designing. In principle, no teacher enters a classroom without
knowing what to teach and how to teach. Teaching with technology
call for the understanding of the key principles of instructional
design in the process of preparing lesson plans, and in developing
instructional materials intended for both classroom-based and
online delivery.
Module 4 explores the study of instructional designs and
models vis a vis technology integration in instructional processes.
The module covers the following lessons:
Lesson 1: Technology Integration in Instructional Processes
Lesson 2: Instructional Design Models
Each lesson will have its corresponding learning outcomes.
Assessments are carried out through various activities. Continue to
learn, unlearn, and relearn, future elementary educators!
UNIT 4

Lesson 1
Technology Integration in Instructional
Processes

LEARNING OUTCOME:

1. Relate the value of using technology integration

concepts in designing learning activities

Duration: 3 hours
UNIT 4
Analysis

Direction. Tell whether you agree or disagree with each of the statements below. Be able
to defend your position.

__________1. Technology in education is simply the number of computers or video

recorders in a classroom and how they might be used to aid customary classroom teaching.

__________2. Educational technology involves raising enquiries such as how a classroom

might change or adapt when a computer is incorporated into a curricular programs.
__________3. How teachers envisage a classroom has to change to become learner-
centered and learner-driven.

__________4. Students and teachers must work together with technology to affect better
learning and teaching.

__________5. Educational technology encompasses applying ideas from different sources

to construct the best learning atmospheres for the students.

Analysis
Direction: Answer the following guide questions:
1. Based on the statements above, how has the role of educational technology changed
over the years?

Application/Assessment
Direction. This is a collaborative learning activity. Read and understanding the given scenario.
Answer the guide questions.

Scenario
In a Science class, teacher Ana showed a short video clip to introduce her
lesson about the process of photosynthesis to her pupils. After the video
presentation, she proceeded to engaging the class in an open discussion about
what they have learned from the material. To her surprise, the whole class is
passive and did not show interest to express their reactions or their thoughts
and even to raise questions about what they have seen in the video. The class
claimed that the concepts of photosynthesis as shown in the video is too
complex for them to understand.
Teacher Ana went home unhappily with the result of using technology to
deliver her lesson. She believes that she tried her best to use technology in
teaching and even went to the extent of asking help from her co-teacher to
download the material and have it ready for class presentation.
Guide Questions:
1. What are the possible problems in the scenario? Classify these problems and cite
other interrelated issues and concerns on the use of technology, teaching strategy, and
teacher’s technology skills as you have observed in the scenario.

Science Teacher Ana failed to corporate proper Technology Integration in Instructional Processes that
provides expanded opportunities for the learners to understand their lessons and task to express their
reaction or thoughts on what they have learned from the video clip. As claimed by, students they
can’t get along with the concepts presented because the video-itself is too hard for learners to
understand her lesson about the process of photosynthesis in her pupils. Teacher Ana is a teacher
who is beginning to learn about technology may experiment on how technology can be integrated in

I believe in education all of us can improve and turn failure into learning processes. Teacher Ana still can turn
the submissive response of student’s into fruitful one if she properly integrates technology in presenting her
lessons to ensure curriculum goals to be achieve. As to what TPACK Technology Integration Model, one of the
