TELPAS AGENDA

1) TELPAS overview:
Kinder & 1st grade: Holistic rating on all competencies using PLDs.
2nd-5th grade: Holistic rating for listening and speaking. Writing ratings will come from
the five writing samples and the reading will come from the online test.
2) Important dates:
Verifier training: Window opened January 12, 2015-Deadline is February 20th.
New rater (K-12)-online training: Deadline is February 13th
Calibrations: Window will open on February 16, 2015-Deadline is February 23rd
3) Important events:
Writing collections: Week of Feb. 16-20th. All make-ups must be done by Tuesday
Feb. 24rd. You will receive an e-mail with instructions for pick up etc.
Verification window: February 24-March 6th
* Teachers turn in their writing samples to their verifiers by the end of the day (3:25 pm)
on February 24th.
* Round 1- Feb.27: Verifiers will turn all samples back to teachers by the end of the day
(3:25). All samples needing additional information will be flagged.
* Round 2-March 4th: Teachers must return all writing samples back to verifiers. Leave
those with mistakes on top and leave notes so verifiers can easily check corrections.
* Final verification-March 6th: Verifiers will return all writing samples with initials and
signatures.
*Other dates will be send to you via e-mail.
4) Writing prompts-Pg. 19-21: Deadline is Thursday February 12th.

5) K-1-Rating window for writing/listening/speaking/reading: as soon as you turn in

your calibration and new-rater certificate. I will e-mail you with confirmation.
2-5-Rating window for writing/listening/speaking: Once teachers have completed
calibration and other basic trainings and I have the certificates you will receive an e-mail
with confirmation. Writing rating cannot begin until you have received approval from
your verifier on March 6th (or sooner).
***TEACHERS MUST USE PLDs TO RATE STUDENTS!
6) Online reading test dates:
* 2nd Grade: March 27th
* 3rd Grade: April 1st
* 4th Grade: April 2nd:
* 5th Grade: April 6th
7) TELPAS Online Test: (Grades 2nd -5th):
*Teachers will receive an email with a testing roster for verification of all LEP students.
*On Testing Day- Students are to lineup outside their assigned computer lab in the order
provided (seating charts are in place).
*On Testing Day- Teachers are to inform test administrator if a student is absent or if a
student left early.
8) Data Entry for Holistic Ratings: (Grades K-5th):
*Teachers are to bring their completed TELPAS Student Rating Roster Spring 2015
form.
*Include Years in US schools for grades 1st 5th only.
