Definition
Chemical

weathering is caused by
chemical reactions between rocks,
water, oxygen, and naturally occurring
acids. The breakdown of rocks can then
change the soil content.

Examples
Rust, which occurs when oxygen hits iron and over time turns
to a brownish color.
Carbonation is caused by carbon dioxide that has been
dissolved in the water. This weak acid can over time cause
erosion in calcium heavy rocks such as Limestone and can
create caves and sink holes.
Hydrolysis is caused by water. IT happens when water reacts
with the face of a rock (commonly feldspar) and turns it to
clay.
Hydration is what happens when the mineral absorbs a new
substance this makes the surface expand and chunks fall off.
Dehydration is pretty much the opposite of hydration. The
removal of water forms limonite and results in hematite.
