Instructional Strategies

Throughout my Professional Clinical Experience, I used a variety of strategies for engaging and effective
instruction, and was introduced to different ways to integrate technology into the lesson. The use of
technology was a major aid in instruction, programs like Kahoot and Near Pod allowed the content to
become more personal and engaging for the students. Another common strategy used was allowing
students to lead discussions rather than have me lead them, this allowed me to get a better
understanding of student comprehension and allowed students to express their questions and
commentary without judgment.
In the Science class, the students enjoyed making personal anchor charts as their notes instead of having
words only in a standard notebook. Both classes enjoyed using Near Pod, when it was set up for them to
draw pictures, answer question by free response, and short quizzes. The best app that the students
enjoyed was by far Kahoot. Kahoot is a competitive multiple choice games that gives rankings based on
the amount of questions answered correctly. They loved the competitiveness of the game, I loved the
excitement they had and the amount of engagement they gave to the content.
