New Product Design Brief

Client: Who is the customer or client that is paying for the design service?
End User: Who is going to use the new product?
Designer(s): Who is responsible for the design of the new product?
Problem Statement: What is the problem that the design team is trying to solve? Write your
answer in complete sentences. Be as descriptive as possible so your designer fully understands the
issues involved with this situation.

Design Statement: Craft a statement that describes the task that is to be undertaken by your
engineering partner.

Criteria, Constraints, Features, & Benefits: What criteria and/or constraints will you place
on the design of the engineering student? What rules/guidelines must they follow? What features or
benefits MIUST be included in the physical design of your product? Be exhaustive here as the more
specific you are the better your engineering student will understand your vision.
