Social Studies and the Young Learner: The NCSS advocates for the creative and thoughtful
teaching of the social studies curriculum throughout the grade levels. Within this periodical I
have discovered the concepts of pen pals overseas, collecting cultural artifacts, and creating a
classroom museum for all concepts. I feel that these concepts and more can be used in my future
classroom no matter the school district or grade level being taught.
NSTA Report: Through my membership in the National Science Teachers Association I have
discovered the power and resource of the Next Generation Science Standards. The NSTA Report
provides news about the spreading of the NGSS and the power of a STEM curriculum. By
reading the NSTA Report every month I feel that I am ready to embrace all of the aspects that
science has to offer and give my students the opportunity to experience all of its facets across all
subject areas.
