Objectives:
1. Students will be able to speak the Spanish lyrics
2. Students will be able to sing the main melody
3. Students will be able to pronounce the Spanish lyrics
Materials:
Oye la Musica by Jay Althouse
Piano
Procedure:
1. Review the Spanish pronunciation/translation
a. Have students turn to the back page of the music
b. Call on students to speak the phonetic pronunciation of the
Spanish
c. Call on students to read the translation aloud
2. Introduce the English
a. Have students speak the words in time
3. Review measures 1-24 with class
a. Introduce words
4. Learn measures 25-32
a. Play the soprano part and have students sing along
b. Play the alto part and have students sing along
c. Play the baritone part and have students sing along
d. Put all the parts together and sing measures 25-32
5. Learn measures 34-42
a. Point out that the soprano/alto part is the same as before
b. Play the new baritone harmony
i. Have baritones sing the new part
c. Put all the parts together and sing measures 34-42
Assessment:
Teacher will listen to students for rhythmic accuracy. (group
assessment)
Teacher will assess each students ability to match pitch. (individual
assessment)
Teacher will assess students ability to speak the correct Spanish
pronunciation(group assessment)
Evaluation:
1. Were students able to speak the Spanish lyrics?
