Within Garioni Naval, have been established a new department devoted exclusively to facilities for the production of energy
through large-scale boilers, whether they
are in recovery, that flame, which in biomass.
The
department
appointed
Power
Generation Department, is
currently comprised of a
team of 8, which, in our structure, are active only in the
design, development and
implementation of large
systems.
It 'is a major investment for
our group, maintaining the
structure dedicated to everything' which is standard,
decided to pursue growth,
seeking new areas and new
markets.
The first part of the year was
interesting and beneficial to
this department, who managed to achieve three major
orders, in three different
areas of the production of
energy: The st gas powered
palm oil, the potential each of
17 MW each. The boiler produces superheated steam to
be sent to the turbine and will
be installed in Brindisi (Italy)
The third consists of a of
flame water tube boiler to
produce 35 ton / h of steam at
45 bar / 450 C. It will be
installed in Algeria.
This is particularly exciting and challenging
plants in an area where we are now
three
entering the front door as an important player. Everything ', however, lies not in the
least diverting our attention from the goods
and the traditional markets of our company
and, in this regard, I can say that, although
in a year of crisis is taking more than decent
and and developing more and more in
countries where we were present only in
as in Germany, Middle East and former
part,
Soviet republics.

One of our biggest projects in the last eighteen months has been the
Johannesburg General Hospital Boiler Room. In December 2007
Combustion Technology was awarded the multi million Rand tender to
upgrade the coal fired boiler house at the Johannesburg Hospital in
Gauteng. We are pleased to announce that the project has now been
completed and Combustion Technology is now on a 12 month service
contract with the hospital. The project included the conversion of the
industrial coal fired boiler house to Natural Gas firing, with Egoli
Natural Gas and provided a sufficient and reliable source of steam and
also a reserve capacity for the winter months of 2008/9. Two 16 Ton
industrial coal fired steam boilers were converted to natural gas firing
and two New 12 ton High Efficiency Garioni Naval Steam Boilers have
been installed. All the boilers have been fitted with the most modern
Boiler and Combustion Management Systems available on the market.
"We are very pleased that the project is now completed and we are
very satisfied with the installations and the running of all the equipment
on site," said Grant Renecle.
"The fuel efficiencies far exceeds expectations and proves our unique

CENTRALE TERMICA COMPOSTA DA
DUE CALDAIE A VAPORE DA 15
TON CAD.
bruciatore.

CENTRALE TERMICA ED
ELETTRICA DELLA NUOVA
RAFFINERIA DI BRINDISI
SPECIAL PRODUCTS
The energy commitments of the plant are based on the significant electrical and thermal loads associated with the technological and production demands.
The order concerns the energy production plant of the new
sugar refinery of the SFIR group, located in the port district of
Brindisi.
In this respect, the project will involve the installation of two
combustion engines running on vegetable oil and each having
an output of 17.5 Mw of electrical power.A heat recovery
system will be installed downstream of each engine in order to
allow the thermal energy of the flue gases to be utilised; the
system will be composed of a dual pressure stage boiler for
the production of superheated and saturated steam. The first
recovery unit will consist of a natural circulation water tube
boiler, designed to produce 14 t/h of steam at a working
pressure of 30 bar, superheated to 430C, which will be used
to feed a steam turbine delivering 3 Mw of electrical power to
be added to the power output of the two engines.
The boiler is of the vertical type and features, in series, a
double bank superheater with tempering system, a generously
sized evaporating section, and an economizer to heat the
feedwater.
A low-pressure boiler will be installed downstream from the first
steam recovery generator; this boiler too will be of the natural
circulation water tube type and will produce approximately
3.5 t/h of saturated steam in addition to the steam derived from
backpressure operation of the turbine utilised for the sugar
refining process.
To provide a comprehensive response to process requirements, a post-firing system is installed upstream of the steam
recovery generator to increase thermal capacity in compliance
with electrical power and technological demands.
Specifically, in this case, the engine flue gases are associated
with high flow rates (approximately 111,000 kg/h), although the
relatively modest temperatures, in the region of approximately
360 C at nominal operating conditions, are insufficient to
superheat the steam to the 430 C required to optimise
performance of the turbine.
The post-firing system therefore makes it possible to increase
the flue gas temperature sufficiently to produce the technological and production specifications of the steam required by the
turbine.
All the banks of the boilers, evaporating sections, superheater
and economiser are made with smooth tubes, in compliance
with the customers specifications, with special attention
focused on sizing and the sections for inspection and cleaning,
required due to the fouling phenomenon associated with the
use of vegetable oil fuel.
The final temperature of flue gases is around 150 C, considering the fouling factor envisaged in the design calculation. The

GARIONI NAVAL S.P.A. ACQUIRES A
OTHER IN THE FIELD BIOMAS BOILERS
FOR ENERGY PRODUCTION.
Garioni Naval spa obtained from the Belgian company Axima Services
an order for engeneering, construction and installation of a water tube
steam generator, feeded with biomass (pellets), for the production of
13 t/h of superheated steam at 42 bar and 420C. The boiler, that will
use a new high tech travelling grate burning system, will deliver that
high pressure steam to a steam turbine for the production of about 3
electric MW. Special caution was mail to the exhaust gas emissions of
dust, organic coal total (COT), NOX and SOX, that will be reduced to
the minimum technically possible level. The plant will produce electric
energy to feed the new University of Liegi Sart Tilman.
The order was acquired with the collaboration of eng. Francesco
Micale of the society LMC Garioni Naval.
