HEIghten Critical Thinking and Written Communication Assessment Reflection

This test was kind of difficult and I dont believe it was necessarily designed to
test critical thinking. A couple of the questions asked where critical thinking but others
not so much. What Im not sure of though, is can critical thinking be taught or are you
born or socialized to think critically. I say that because one of the questions at the end
asked if any of your classes or teachers asked you to think critically and the only class
that I could think of were I had to think critically was my Philosophy class with
Professor Rasmussen. Other than that everything following my classes has been common
knowledge or it has been taught to me. It could be because the first two years are general
education courses and they arent necessarily designed to make us think critically. How
can you measure someones critical thinking skills with a test, especially, a test like the
one that was given? I honestly didnt take the test seriously because I knew it wasnt for a
grade and some of the questions were set up like trick questions. I would tell the Board
of Governors to redesign this test because it wasnt helpful to me. It didnt make me feel
like I was taking a test designed to test my critical thinking skills. I may even tell them to
get rid of the test because it does no justice.
