Mr. George Washington

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest
Washington, DC 20500
Dear George,
Our company has received a fair amount of criticism as of recently. This, of course, is in light of
your decision to leak confidential information regarding one of our clients who filed a claim
about a pet store clerk who was traumatized after assisting the euthanization of 13 young and
healthy dogs. Naturally, this has caused public uproar about the dog killing.
Although you may have felt you were doing the right thing, you violated the companys ethical
policy by breaching the clients right to privacy; this is a core principle of our company. You
have always been scrupulous about keeping claims confidential and I am disappointed in how
you handled this particular situation. As an insurance company, we are obligated to contact the
police if we believe a crime has occurred. In this particular case, the company would have
contacted the police about the incident while keeping our clients information confidential. By
contacting the media first, you undercut the legal system and attracted considerable negative
attention to our client before they were legally convicted of any wrong-doing. It is not the
companys decision to decide the morality of our clients decisions.
Because of your actions, we are now faced with a situation where the public is outraged at one of
our clients before the full and true story was revealed. Consequently, I am displeased to inform
you that you will be terminated from the Insurance Company immediately. Please pack and
remove all of your belonging from property by Monday morning. While I agree with your
indignation of the clients report, I have no choice but to let you go. I wish you the best of luck in
your future endeavors.

Regards,

William R. Wilson
