What did Stalin do to the Chechens during WWII? Why did he do this?
He forcible banished them to Siberia and Kazakhstan. They were not allowed to
return to their homeland till 1957. Which was after Stalins death.

Nikita Khrushchev allowed them to come back after Stalin had died.
6. What was the first Chechen War? [Who started it? When? Why? Results?]
The first Chechen war started in 1994 and was started by the Chechens ended in 1996 when
Yeltsin signed a ceasefire in May of 1996. A year later they Signed a peace treaty.
7. When was the second Chechen War? [Who started it? When? Why? Results?]
Russia started the second war after they suspected the Chechens were behind the
bombings. In 2000 Russia gained control over the Chechens again.
8. Prior to his death in 2006, the separatist Basayev was deemed to be
responsible for the most notorious event to that point in time. Identify this
event. How many deceased militants in this event were NOT Chechen? Why might
this be a significant change in the Chechen Wars?
The most notorious even was when 32 militants went into a school only 4 of them
not being Chechen.. and killed more than 300 people. Most of them were children.

The Chechen group has possibly been involved and in contact with Al-Qaeda . and
this may affect the sympathy this group get for their independence from
Americans because Americans hate the group Al- Qaeda because of 9/11.
10. Do you believe the Russians should grant Chechnya their independence? Why or
why not? [Answer this question in paragraph format (minimum of six sentences).
No I do not believe that the Chechen group deserves to be independent. They have
caused a lot of damage. And they dont seem to be the best country if they were
independent. Especially of they were in contact with Al-Qaeda. They seem to have
done many bombings. And to have many enemies.
