Golf Swing Mechanics

Introduction
(Camera faces)
Welcome..today we will be discussing the proper mechanics of a golf
swing. First, we will discuss club grip, your stance, shifting your weight,
and following through contact with your ball.
First, lets discuss your club grip.

Proper club grip

(Camera faces)
Grab the club with you predominate hand, make sure you settle in in
the palm of your hand. Place your other hand thumb on the club, and
interlock you index finger with your predominate hand pinky finger.
Next, we will be discussing our stance.

Stance
(Camera faces)
First, square your body to the ball. Think of your torso as a fence post,
and you want to rotate around the fence post on the X-axis. Attempt to
eliminate tilt on the y-axis. Keep your weight evenly distributed, knees
bent, and shoulders level, on the X-axis.
Lastly, lets look at shifting your weight.

Shifting weight
(Camera adjacent and behind)
From your stance, you must bring the club back in a smooth motionshifting your weight to your back foot- and then bring the club back
down, rotating your hips though, shifting your weight to your front foot.
Lastly, lets discuss follow through.

Follow through
(Camera adjacent and behind)
As your club comes down off the back swing, your hips rotate, the
weight is shifted from your back leg to your front leg. However, most
people tend to forget about following though the swing. A typical golfer
can lose up to 10% of their driving distance by not following though
their swing. The final should have your weight on your front foot, your
back foot should be on your toes, and the club should be facing, club
down, and on a vertical plane, behind your back.

Summary
Club grip
Soft grip, interlock pinky of predominate hand with index of nonpredominate hand
Stance
Square at address, rotate body on x-axis, eliminating y-axis tilt
Shifting weight
Smooth backswing, with tempo, rotate around x-axis, shifting weight
from back to font foot
Follow through
Rotate hips, weight shift from font to back, and the club should be on a
vertical plane behind your back.
