Scientific Background on the Nobel Prize in Physics 2010
Graphene
Background
This paper is written by the Class for Physics of the Royal
Swedish Academy of Sciences. The papers aim is to explain the
background of graphene, its history, and its properties.
Graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms arranged in
honeycomb lattices.
Method
This is a scientific paper complied by using scientific data,
graphs, and models to explain the properties of graphene. It
took quantitative information from research done by the two
2010 Nobel Prize laureates in Physics. The paper also mentioned
scientists who predicted or studied graphene before the two
laureates.
Results
This paper achieved its aim by clearly explaining the basic
properties of graphene. It complied all the information scientists
know for graphene so far. The paper also mentions the future
applications and potentials of graphene.
Conclusion
Graphene is listed as the first 2D material, its discovery can lead
to many new possibilities. For its significance in physics,
graphene is selected as the winning study for the Nobel Prize in
Physics 2010.
