Argument

October 17th
Day 23

Were going to argue

Typical argument/debate rules

Be respectful of others opinions
Support your stance with logical thinking,

facts (if you know some already), and

interaction
Think about your tone/voice/audience (if
your tone is not working, you can adapt it)
Am I bold? Am I trying to suggest something
only?
This may change depending on what you are
saying

What is ETHICS?
Noun:
1. The discipline dealing with what is good and
bad and with moral duty and obligation
2. The principles of conduct governing an
individual or a group < professional ethics>
3. A consciousness of moral importance
4. A guiding philosophy
Plural noun: a set of moral principles or issues
From Merriam Webster

You

You are a switch operator for a railroad from

before electronics. You live alongside the
tracks and must manually shift part of them in
order to route the trains to the correct direction.

The Scenario

There is a bridge out ahead. If a train

is routed to the right, it will crash, more
than likely killing everyone on it.
You have a small child who likes to play
on the tracks. You can see him playing
on the tracks to the left, but he is too
far away to hear you.

The Issue and Question

A train is coming.
Which way do you route it and why?
You have 5 minutes to think about this and

write down your ideas

Please note: There is no correct answer
