THINK (10 minutes)In small groups the students collaborate together to share their prior knowledge and tune
in on the activitys purpose. The teacher writes the following questions on a padlet page
and asks the groups to respond to them using the class ipads.

What do you already know about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures?
Where are these communities of cultures found in Australia?
What are these cultures connected to?
By the students engaging in this warm-up activity, they are recalling their prior knowledge
of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. This also gives them the opportunity to
remember information from prior lessons that other groups may recall however some
students may not. It also allows for the teacher to note which individual students can recall
their gained knowledge.
DO (20 minutes)-

In your group share the iPad to explore the website listed above.
Gather information that relates to culture connectedness and the similarities and

differences from pre-colonisation to the present day.

Delegate a note-taker to fill in the boxes on the Tree Diagram (Resource 6) with your
groups findings as well as your own thoughts and ideas.
One student from each group hand in the iPad to the teacher.
REFLECT (30 minutes)-

Once completed read through your Tree Diagram as a group and decide on a period of

time which you want to represent in a role play.
