Presidential Success. I take being

president of Delta Epsilon Phi as a great
compliment to my reputation. The honor
society is a wonderful group of motivated,
intelligent people. As for the induction
ceremony, I found that very fun, and I
am happy to have new members in Delta
Epsilon Phi
- Judson Elsholz, 12.
Future Foundation. Its really an honor to
be a part of the German National Honor
Society. I find it a great accomplishment.
At the induction ceremony at Broadway
Diner, I had a very nice time meeting new
families and talking with Herr Wallace. For
the future in both Delta Epsilon Phi and my
own life, I plan to better my German, and
to interact with new people
- Caprice Carrington, 11.
Good Times. The induction ceremony
was very lovely and very nice. It was
enjoyable to talk with both people I
knew from school and families I had just
met. We were talking, laughing, making
jokes, and just having a good time. It was
an evening well spent, and I felt quite
honored to be inducted into such a great
Honor Society- Alex Wahoski, 11.

I could really picture myself

Lots to like. The

environment was great for
me, smaller classes and
teachers that have one-onone time with their students
is really what I like. I also
thought that the campus

nice - Aidan Keller, 10.

Not quite strong enough. The hardest part

was leaning over the rail because Im kind of
short. It would have been way easier if I had
more upper body strength, but, hey, at least I got
the jug all the way up in 8.4 seconds- Aubrey
Heard, 11.

Not that hard. It wouldve been really easy if

you had longer arms, but it wasnt that difficult. I
didnt try that hard, and I still got a time of 3.8
seconds. I mean, all you had to do was lift the
water jug as fast as you can- Don Dillon.

Wish I was That Fast. I though it was going to

be incredibly hard, but when I tried, I found it to
be pretty easy; however, it made my arms really
tired. My time was 4.5 seconds, but the fastest
time in our class was 2.6 seconds- Bethany
Gable, 11.

Three seconds of work. The fastest time in

our class was 2.35 seconds. I think the biggest
obstacle of hand-eye coordination. The whole
point of this lab was to find the amount of work
you were doing while pulling up the jug

put on the dazzling performance of Hairspray. This play featured
talented and willing teens from all over and was an absolute
success. The show was put together beautifully and was almost
exactly like the movie, remarks Aruodo Nnanna, the actors and
performers were so talented I wouldnt change one thing about
the show. The audience was amazed by Hairspray which was
hilariously put together. My favorite part was when the two parents
were singing together because the mother was played by a boy,
shared Malachi Smith. As each of the actors took their final bow, the
audience roared at the stunning replication of Hairspray.

Future

The 1930s and 1940s, to most

high schoolers, are just numbers to
memorize by test day, a point in history
characterized by unemployment and
crop failure. Wrecked by the Great
Depression and troubled by war torn
Europe, America was running short
on optimists, but Ms. Irma Burger, a
mere teenager at the time, found herself
determined to work through the hardest
economic recession the United States had
ever seen. Now, having lived 92 years in
a changing America, she shared the best
and worst of her life with Mr. Moores US
History classes.
Junior Presley Novak said that
speaking to Ms. Burger about her
historical experiences was extremely
important because we learn where we
came from and how far weve gone in
multiple ways, the greatest of which being
technologically and socially. I learned a
lot about how hard people have worked
to bring us out of these struggling times.
The small crowd that gathered around

Ms. Burger sat happily with smiles on

their faces as she recalled humorous
stories from her childhood and listened
intently when she discussed the effects
of the hard times on both her personally
and on the nation. The 92 year old,
however, remained jubilant as she
discusses her youth.
Junior Davin Bell stated, My favorite
story of hers was when she told us about
her dating at the time. Once, she even
watched the same movie twice, because
she agreed to two separate dates for the
premiere of Gone With the Wind. This
was my favorite story of hers, because it
was just so relatable, compared to the rest
of history.
So, on that ordinary Thursday
afternoon, in Mr. Moores ordinary
history class, with his ordinary students,
something extraordinary happened.
Humanity crossed generations to
relay stories losing witnesses; history
converged with the present in a single
class period.

German institute provides

a unique way to learn
The whole set up of this event
was really cool. There were
a bunch of big trunks filled
with different statistics about
Germany. We had a worksheet
with different questions and
had to find the answers in the
displays, so I was able to learn a
lot of cool facts. This is my fourth
year taking German, but its the
first time we ever had the Goethe
Zentrum Institute come and hold
this event. I definitely enjoyed it
and hope they come again next
year
- Melissa Holder, 11.
Goethe Zentrum brought
numerous trunks containing a
compact German culture inside,
and I was able to help set it up. It
was a great, self-contained way
to learn about facts and statistics
of German culture and individual
people who live there which is
really cool. A few people from
the Goethe Institute in Atlanta,
and the German Embassy even
came and spoke to us about the
Goethe Zentrum in the German
language

We made a bet in class that if Mr. Tang could bench press
more than me in a competition, during sixth period, then I would
have to wrestle for him on the wrestling team, but, if I won, then
we would get to watch a video in class. Little did he know, I was
planning to wrestle next year anyway. The competition was
fierce but Mr. Tang ended up giving his one hundred and ten
percent and won.
