To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Michael Ferreira as
Ive had been the supervisor for Mr. Ferreiras student-teaching experience in the
Chelmsford, MA Public Schools during the Spring semester of 2015.
In the five visits during which I saw Michael teach at both the elementary and high
school levels, he always displayed punctuality, professionalism in attitude and
dress, and a sincere interest in developing his teaching skills. He was very
receptive to criticism and open to accepting suggestions to improve his skills and
add new ones to his repertoire.
I twice observed Mr. Ferreira at the Harrington Elementary School as he taught
Kindergarten and Grade 4 General Music classes. During those classes, he treated
students with respect and was patient in his instruction. He developed effective
lesson plans for these classes so that students achieved the goals that he had set for
those instructional periods.
At Chelmsford High School I observed Michael teaching Music Theory, Chamber
Orchestra and Full Orchestra during which he exhibited the same positive
attributes and attitudes that I witnessed with the younger students. For example, he
showed considerable empathy for the single violist in the Chamber Orchestra when
she was concerned about the ability to play her part, telling her, When we do the
whole group, it will be the bassoons with you so you wont be alone.
In summation, I believe that Michael Ferreira will be a valuable addition to any
music department fortunate enough to retain his services.
