Dear members of the selection committee:

I am writing to submit my recommendation for Micah Unzueta for being part of the high-performance
school in Tumbes, Peru. Micah is a hard-working teacher who has showed his skills as an English
teacher teaching the language to teenagers from the age of 14 and 16 years. Besides he has a good
sense of humour and character when he is teaching. As such, I am delighted to prepare this
recommendation on his behalf.

I met Micah in March because of the Fulbright Commission that sent him to teach English at COAR
Tumbes. His attendance, participation and commitment were an example for our colleagues. Early in
the term he has developed strategies in the classroom creating a good environment. He is a well-
prepared person with genuine intellectual interest in the world to teach a new language. I have been
thoroughly impressed by his work and dedication with education.

Despite many challenges he had faced here in Tumbes, he has learned to overcome it. Micah’s lifestyle
has changed for the better. He had taught some workshops as well so that students can improve their
speaking and reading skills. Also, he has fulfilled his role as an English teaching assistant with skill and
determination. Currently, he is working in another COAR school in Madre de Dios teaching English to
teenagers who need to reinforce their language skills.

At the end of August, he did a project related to Model United Nations (MUN) where students had to
develop their speaking and feel confident in order not to be nervous, and they can express themselves
without being afraid. All the colleagues were satisfied with Micah’s work. He is always trying to
improve and innovate something new in within the classroom.

Both personable and diligent, I recommend Micah as an extraordinary thinker and creative person who
is always there to make some positive changes for the benefit of education. It was a pleasure to have
Micah in my class. I have no reservations in giving him my highest possible recommendation.
