Macalpiay National High School
Pastrana, Leyte

Sir,

Greetings!
This is to formally express my intent to compete in the ranking and selection process, and to hopefully
get permanently appointed for a Full-time Teacher I position in Junior High School beginning in
School Year 2018-2019, mainly due to proximity in my permanent residence and my motivation to
share my expertise.

I am a LET Passer, a certified Licensed Professional Teacher since December 13, 2017. I have a
degree in BSEd major in English Language and Literature and have a one year teaching experience at
St. Joseph High School of Dagami Inc., located at Dagami, Leyte, I have been teaching English
subjects from Grades 7 to 10 and Contemporary Issues, a Social Science subject in Grade 10.

This application comes with the intent to utilize and share my maximum potentials in teaching
Grammar, Language, and Literature, to make the most of my passion to teach, as well as to train and
evaluate young minds. It may also noteworthy that I uphold the following values in teaching: Know
the learners, Share experiences, and Recognize learners.

First, know the learners. Get a grasp of their interest and expectations, their strengths and weaknesses
in order to relate to them and to better cater to their learning needs.
Next, share experiences. Each student has a unique experience in life that may brought insights to the
other students. The teacher should talk to his or her students like a parent talks to his or her children.
This will help a lot in creating a healthy teacher-learner relationship.

Lastly, recognize learners. Each student is important. Make positive comments and appreciate their
little works. A teacher should value the students’ ideas. I believe that it is also essential to participate
with them, treat them individually and respect their unique “self”.

To the school where I may later be appointed and deployed to, I would like to not only change the
world, but to improve it. I am teacher because I believe that education is one of the most important
functions of the society. I would like to offer my expertise in teaching the English language and to
utilize my undying passion in teaching the literatures of the Philippines and the literatures of the world.
I want to develop learners who are confident in using and speaking the universal language. As a 21 st
century teacher, I aspire to creating a learning environment where students are active learners, a place
that effectively caters to the learning needs of the 21st century learners who later on will be globally
competent as well.

The eagerness to participate in the next rounds of the selection process for Teachers I is likewise herein
expressed.

Respectfully yours,

SHARMAINE A. MALINAO
TEACHER-APPLICANT
