eagle on a red shield, and the red stripe
stands for the blood shed to fight for
independence while the white stripe stands
for peace.

Holiday
Polish Independence Day
On November 11, 1918, after 123 years of
captivity, Poland regained its independence.
Patriotic gatherings and parades are held all
over Poland.
Volunteers take part in the Race of
Independence to commemorate the day.

Traditional Recipe

Christmas cuisine
Includes: dumplings stuffed with mushrooms,
mushroom soup
a cabbage dish (usually plain cabbage with
mushrooms or pierogi with cabbage and
mushrooms),
sweet dumplings with poppy seeds, pastries,
cakes, fruit, nuts, sweets
and a compote drink made from stewed prunes,
dried pears and apples.
The main treat is fish.
