Basic Rules of Transcription


No double phonemes. For example cool /ku:l/ u will not be used twice.
No c in phonetics. Instead we use /s/ as in cent /sent/
No q in phonetics. Instead /kw/ is used as in queen /kwi:n/
No x is phonetics. Instead / Iks/ is used as in fix /fIks/
