CSNET
- The Computer Science Network (CSNet) is a now-defunct computer ne
twork designed to extend networking benefits to universities and institutions th
at could not be directly connected to ARPANET. CSNet was funded by the National
Science Foundation from its inception in 1981 until 1984.
4. NSFNET
- The National Science Foundation Network (NSFNET) was a program of
coordinated, evolving projects sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NS
F) beginning in 1985 to promote advanced research and education networking in th
e United States.
