A major production company

Paramount Pictures:

Paramount Pictures have distributed various commercially successful film series including:
Indiana Jones, The Godfather, Jack Ryan, Transformers and Mission Impossible.
Paramount Pictures is a major company. Therefore, will be given a bigger budget, enabling their
film to be produced in a more professional manner, to a higher quality, enticing a larger
audience to watch the film. Although, a director will have less input in the production process
as Paramount Pictures will have the most input and final say.

Paramount Pictures would be a good film company for our film as Paramount Pictures often
work with the genre of rom-coms. this is important for the audience, as they would associate
the genre with Paramount Pictures, automatically attracting a larger footfall, and almost
guaranteeing a profit. This major production company is important as Paramount Pictures is
well established and has a good status. Therefore, automatically attracts a large footfall. The
genre reinforces the extent in which there is a large target audience. However, the audience
may be interested to see if there is a unique selling point within our film, as they would have
been likely to see other rom coms. This enables Barthes 5 code theory to be read as an enigma
would be sent to the audience as they would want to continue watching to unravel the mystery.

A major film company

The Walt Disney Company:

Their main target audience is small children, they also have an older
audience as there are subliminal innuendo connoting context for the
children's parents. They have disrupted: Snow White, Peter Pan and Dumbo.
This major film company would not be the best option as a result of my
target audience, as our film targets mainly teenagers and adults, as
opposed to young children, as my film and Walt Disney typically have a
different outlook on the film industry.
Walt Disney links in with hypodermic needle theory as children are a passive
audience, as they believe what they see on media products on tv and in
films. This links in with the Blumler and Katz's theory of personal
relationships and identify as they will be building a relationship between the
characters in the film.

An independent production company

Sony Pictures Classics:

- This firm has built a reputation of making reasonable investments for
small firms, generating a decent profit. They have distributed Bag Head and
Mother and Child, based around genres which contain romance and comedy.
- This production company would be ideal for us as the genre fits. This
ensures they have a target audience for us already, and almost guarantees
profit. However, a small budget could have an effect on the overall outlook
of our film. However, out film is not expensive to produce so this shouldn't
effect us too much at all.

An independent production company

Troma Entertainment
Usually comedy, crime, horror or sci-fi. Examples consist of Cry Uncle! And
Nightbeast.
This company would not be ideal as there is a strong mix of genres. It would
be best if we used a production company which focused on romantic
comedies, despite Ttoma Entertainment producing comedy. This to ensure
we have a strong audience, which will like the genre.
