Session I: Importance of Inclusion and the Role of Organized Retail

Inclusion is a key imperative to drive sustained and robust economic growth.


Organized retail can play a major role in this agenda as a provider of employment,
buyer of agricultural and manufacturing output and seller of products to the
marginalized sections of the society.
This session will delve into why inclusion is such an important theme for the country
and how organized retail can play a role. The panelists will share their own

Session II: FDI in Retail: A Key Enabler for Retail to reach its full Potential
Retail is an investment hungry sector where growth will be fuelled by an expansion of
footprint and building of a more robust infrastructure to support this footprint. It is also
a sector where several innovations from around the world can be adapted and
executed to increase productivity. FDI can play a crucial role in providing the Indian
retail sector with both the investment and access to know-how.
The regulations restricting FDI in multi-brand retail have been under heavy
discussion in the recent past. This panel will discuss different sides of the argument
of this very contemporary.

Pricing

Cost-of-goods sold and indirect procurement form a significant part of the cost
structure for a retailer. As Indian retailers gradually build scale they have an
opportunity to improve their cost positions by adopting a more sophisticated
approach to sourcing.
