SHAKESPEARES GLOBE

THEATRE AND
HAMLET
BY: ALIVIA NGUYEN

A Famous Theatre
Did you know that one of the most famous playhouses of all
time was the Globe Theatre? The Globe Theatre was built in 1559 on
the bank of the River Thames located in the Southern shore of
London. In fact, the theatre was built by the acting company that
William Shakespeare co-owned. This theatre was a grand wooden
architecturally unique looking building. It was round opened air
theatre, with three floor levels and could seat as many as 3,000
people. Typically, the highest peck of the theatre stood a color-coded
flagpole, indicating the type of plays that was to be performed. In
addition, along the bottom of the stage was the pit where the
groundlings, whom were the poor people, would have to stand to
watch. Additionally, under the floor of the stage was a large cellar
called hell which was access through a trap door. In general, the
tiring house contains the prop room, dressing room, and music
gallery that connected the passageway and was behind the stage. In
summary, the unique architecture structure and design brings out
the best in any play that was performed there and will be forever a
historical landmark.

Hamlet
Scene 2

The clock has struck twelve and darkness reigns. Hamlet,

Hortatio, Marcellus, and Bernardo are waiting for the
ghost of Hamlets father to appear on the castle platform.

Come see a knee high play

If you like what you see just kick me
Focus on the ball not the skull
We were playing or are we watching a play
To be, or not to be..I pick to be!

The End!
