Maintain the Standards for Quality Early Childhood Education

In order to have quality early childhood education, there needs to

be specific things done. Having good relationships, curriculum,
assessments, health, teachers, community relationships, and
leadership and management.
Having good relationships among all children and adults will
encourage each childs sense of individual worth and belonging as part
of a community and to foster each childs ability to contribute as a
responsible community member. Positive relationships are essential for
the development of personal responsibility, capacity for self-regulation,
and the interactions with other and for academic functioning
Having curriculum that is consistent with its goals for children
and promotes learning and development in social, emotional, physical,
language and cognitive is very important in quality early childhood
education. Making sure the curriculum is developmentally appropriate
is also very important. If the curriculum is too easy for the children,
they will often get bored and they wont be as interested and it will
turn out to be very chaotic. If the curriculum is too difficult for children,
they will often get frustrated and confused.
Having assessments of each childs progress is very important.
These assessments will provide information on childrens learning and
development. These assessments occur within the context of reciprocal
communications with families and with sensitivity to the cultural
contexts in which children develop. Assessment results are used to
benefit children by informing decisions about the children, teaching
and program improvement.
Making sure that the early childhood education program
promotes the nutrition and health is very important. Making sure that
the program protects the children and staff from illness and injury will
make the program very strong. Posting of illnesses and communicating
with others about the illness that is going on in the classroom is very
important for the staff and childrens sake.
Having quality teachers in early childhood education is very
important. The program should employ and support the teaching staff
that has the educational qualifications, knowledge, and professional
commitment necessary to promote quality learning and development
for each individual child and their families.
Community relationships are also very important in quality early
childhood education. The program should establish relationships with

the community and use their resources to support the achievement of

program goals.
Leadership and Management are important. The program should
effectively implement policies, procedures and systems that support
stale staff and strong personnel, and program management so all
children, families and staff have high quality experiences.
