Explore Early Childhood Curriculum Models

There are three early childhood curriculum models. These models

include: Montessori, High Scope and Reggio Emilia. Each curriculum
has its own way of teaching but they are all have a play-based
curriculum.
Montessori is a revolutionary method of observing and
supporting the natural development of children. Montessori
educational practice helps children develop creativity, problem solving,
critical thinking and time-management skills, care of the environment
and each other, and prepares them to contribute to society and
become fulfilled people.
High Scope is a comprehensive curriculum method. Learning is
focused on eight content areas, which are based on the dimensions of
school readiness identified by the National Education Goals Panel. The
eight content areas include: approaches to learning, social and
emotional development, physical development and health, language,
literacy and communication, mathematics, creative arts, science and
technology and social studies.
Reggio Emilia Approach is an educational philosophy focused on
preschool and primary education. The program is based on the
principles of respect, responsibility and community through exploration
and discovery in a supportive and enriching environment based on the
interests of the children through self-guided curriculum.
