Typically, completing a vet medicine program

takes 4 years and includes classroom,
laboratory, and clinical practice. You also need
to have a lot of experience with different types
of animals.
The median salary range is $84,460.

JOB OUTLOOK FOR THE FUTURE

Employment is expected to grow at the
average rate (12%) from 2012 to 2022.
This is because more people are expected to
take their pets to the vet for more visits, and
veterinary medicine has advanced.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most veterinarians work in private clinics or
hospitals, but some travel to farms and other
places to treat animals as well.
Being a vet can be very stressful; they risk
being bitten along with all the noises in a clinic.

OTHER INFORMATION
There is a lot of competition when trying to
get into vet school. The number of graduates
from veterinary
school has increased to about
3,000 students per year, which
also increases the competition for
jobs.
