Data Analysis

Before the intervention, there were five students that had a C or lower in one subject area, 13
students that had a C or lower in two subject areas, and five students with a C or lower in all
three subjects. After the intervention, six students improved in one area, 12 students improved
in two areas, three students improved in all three subject areas, and only two students didnt
improve at all. However, when looking at the grades, there were 11 students that only had one
subject with the grade of a C or lower, eight students with two subjects with the grade of a C
or lower, and three students that still has a C or lower in all three subjects. Only one student
improved all their grades to a B or higher. There was a limitation, for the post intervention
Language Arts grade, there was only one grade in the gradebook. And it was a spelling test.
So if a student got a bad grade on that one test, then their grade was low instead of there
being many grades that help offset each other. I should also state that when the pre
intervention grades were taken, it was the last day of the nine weeks, so there were many
more grades in the system. There were also several missing assignments that would also
impact a students grade. When looking at overall increases, there were gains made by almost
every student. To me, because there were percentage increases, which means that the study
skill intervention was a success. Some gains were as small as .21% and some were as great as
23.83%.
