This semesters showcase was very interesting.

It was my first experience with

participating in showcase. I used the art piece we created in Mrs. Karpel's rotation as my
showcase work. The day we did showcase it was a new experience and it was very interesting.
The showcase application that we were required to turn in was one of the key points in our
showcase projects. This my showcase reflection.
The art piece I created in Mrs .Karpels rotation was required to be about or connected to
the four pillars in DAVINCI. I connected my art piece to the DAVINCI pillars connect and reflect.
The symbolism that is in my art piece can be found in my artist statement. My project was of a
rose that had vines connecting that run through the entire piece. I had the idea of the rose
because we were required to create something original and thoughtful. I used my art piece fro
showcase because I believe that it was the best piece of work I made all year and i also believe
that it reflected on my first semester.
This semester's showcase was my first experience ever of what showcase is all about. It
was very rough at first to be prepared and turn in all of the applications and paperwork we
needed for our presentation. After I got all of my work turned in I found the process after that
was easier. When we actually did our presentations it wasnt very fun or organized. Since I
chose to present an art piece i didn't have to actually present I just had to hang up my art piece
and I was done.
For showcase a requirement was that we had to turn in an application that we
individually filled out. On the showcase application the requirements were to answer how our
showcase projects connected to the four pillars. We had to answer the questions that were
related to the four pillars and our showcase projects. My showcase project connected to the four
pillars of DAVINCI because I made to specially relate to the four pillars. My project/ art piece
was made in my rotation with Mrs. Karpel and the requirement on those pieces were to embed a
specific DAVINCI pillar into our pieces. The connection of the DAVINCI pillars is found in my
artist statement along with my showcase application.
During the process of the DAVINCI showcase I found it to be very difficult to reach the
due dates for the showcase material. I also found it very hard to receive information from
DAVINCI teachers. For next semsters showcase I hope that the lack of information from
teachers to students will be improved. Other than that I found showcase to be a fun experience
in sharing the work I have created in the semester.
