The Heavy Duty Equalizer is a closed circuit shunt type protector, for use on up to 24 VDC circuits. As a
shunt, the equalizer has a minimum resistance of 1000 ohms; therefore, current leakage is low on the low
voltage circuits for which the equalizer is recommended. The Equalizer retains its resistance and 75 to
150 VDC breakdown (175-200 VDC for 022700-46X and 022700-47X) through long service life. The Heavy
Duty equalizer consists of a discharge unit and red plastic cap. The name EQUALIZER appears on one
mounting clip of the discharge unit, and each mounting clip spring is painted red for identification. This unit
has standard mounting centers of 2-3/8 inches (022700-47X; 3 1/8" mounting centers).
Several other assemblies are offered, including special arrangements for lamp filament protection, either
mounted in signal head or on relay terminal posts.
A sealed equalizer is available for use on equipment subject to moisture or immersion in water.
Although surge handling capability is not as great as the Heavy Duty Equalizer, resistance remains
constant in the presence of moisture.
