Re: Elizabeth Walsh
To Whom It May Concern;
I have had the pleasure of being the Student Teaching Supervisor for Elizabeth Walsh who served in grade 1 at
the Newport Heights Elementary School in the Newport Mesa USD during the winter quarter of 2015, and is
now serving as a grade 5 student teacher at Davis Magnet School in the same district.
I have found Elizabeth demonstrates the flexibility necessary to be an effective teacher. Her lessons have been
adjusted to meet the individual needs of students. She has created a classroom environment that is engaging,
stimulating, student centered, interesting, and fun. Elizabeth enjoys teaching, which can be seen by the
enthusiasm and personal charm she displays in the classroom. She has a great smile which is evident during
her interactions with the children.
While Elizabeth was in the grade 1 classroom, she was able to observe and learn how to implement a high level
of organization, collaboration, differentiation, and technology integration. By the end of her placement, she
was able to successfully mirror her mentors positive reinforcement of desired student behavior, plan engaging
and well sequenced lessons aligned with CCSS, and develop personal and meaningful relationships with every
student in the class.
The grade 5 assignment has provided a number of opportunities for Elizabeth to share her creativity. She has
taken existing procedures and enhanced them in ways that students are motivated and engaged. For example
she has incorporated the Class Dojo for student behavior, created read alouds with specific roles for different
students, incorporated yoga into a PE program, provided hands-on experiences in science along with a
hyperlapse, and is also leading a book club.
Elizabeth has had excellent student teaching experiences at Newport Heights Elementary School and is in a
highly motivating placement at Davis Magnet.
I am confident Elizabeth will be a strong asset to any school.
Please feel free to call if I can answer any questions regarding Elizabeth's professional abilities.
Sincerely,

Chuck Prince/ UCI Supervisor (949)240-0537
