Andy Warhol
In 1928, Andrew Warhol was born in the city of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania,
born to the parents Julia and Ondrej Warhol. Warhols parents were Slovakian
Immigrants and maintained their Eastern European culture. This small family
attended mass regularly.
During Andy Warhols childhood, he extracted a disease by the name
of Chorea, which attacks the nervous system. During 8 year old Warhols
recovery, his mother Julia, started giving him drawing lessons. This was the
start of the future artists legacy. He started pursuing this career after
graduating college with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Carnegie
Institute of Technology. Soon after, he moved to New York in 1949. A year
later in 1950, he landed a job with glamour magazine and was recognized as
the best commercial artist of the 1950s. Later on, Warhol coined the idea of
Pop Art. His most famous pop art was the Campbells logo.

Jeff Koons
The second artist, Jeff Koons, was born in York, Pennsylvania on January
21, 1955. Koons attended high school and later went on to Maryland Institute
of Art in Baltimore. In 1976, he graduated earing his M.F.A. More than 30
years later Koons enrolled in the School of Art Institute of Chicago and would
earn his Honorary Doctrine. Jeff Koons had hosted his first show in 1980 and

displayed art that blended several ideas. These ideas consisted of pop,
conceptual, craft and appropriation to invent his own unique style. Koons
most well-known piece which was recently sold was the balloon dog.

Jackson Pollock
It was on the 28th of January in the year 1912 when the legend Jackson
Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming. His parents were Stella May McClure and
LeRoy Pollock. Polloock and his family moved around multiple times on the
West Coast and suffered from abuse from their father who was an alcoholic.
He attended Manual Arts High School but was expelled twice. Many refer to
him as a lost cause from a very young age. Although Pollock struggled in his

everyday life, he maintained very artistic. Jackson Pollock created a style of


art called Dripping. One of his most famous drip paintings was Blue Poles.
