Definition
A hardware which allows you to gain
access to the internet. Usually ISP
Allows ISPs to connect with each other
through inter. Interchange between
networks within the internet. Allows ISPs to
interconnect with each other.
An agreed-upon format for transmitting
data between two devices. Responsible for
sending & receiving (routing in order)
packets of data across the internet.
TCP is responsible for breaking data down
into IP packets before they are sent, and
for assembling the packets when they
arrive. Takes data from users application
program, and passes to IP for transfer
across the internet.
Used to download programs onto your
computer from other servers, i.e., free
software from a webpage. Allows files to
be transferred between two computers.
Example-uploading/downloading a file.
Provide a cost-effective gateway for people
and businesses to get onto the internet.
Provide additional services than just
internet, such as email. Many also provide
web space for developing websites.
