Fire Prevention

The organization expects each employee to

do everything possible to safeguard
the project from damage by fire.

Each employee can help prevent

disaster by keeping his or her
work area clean and free of rubbish
and by observing all rules regarding
fire prevention.

Care must be exercised in the

handling of flammable materials.

Fire Prevention

Good housekeeping goes a long way to prevent fires.

Clean up flammable liquid leaks and spills
immediately.
Repair any flammable
liquid leaks immediately.
Dispose off all waste
promptly and properly.
Keep work areas clean
and free of dust and lint.
Keep passageways clear.

Fire Prevention

Handle oxygen cylinders with oily

hands or gloves

Fill an engine unless it is turned

off and cool, or fill a container
unless it is bonded and grounded

Smoke outside designated areas

Let waste materials

accumulate in
work areas

Hot Work Permits

May be required in operations involving flame

or spark-producing equipment
Must be signed by responsible person.
Only approved for a short duration and specific
job. Requires certain pre-task activities
Follow-up required after hot work
Know the location and
proper use of
fire extinguishers

Methods
1.Cooling

the fire to
Remove the heat
2. Starving the fire
of fuel

3. Smothering

the fire by
limiting its oxygen
supply.
4. Blanketing
the fire by
separating the fire from
the atmosphere.
