Dimensioning in AutoCAD
Dimensions-special text labels with attached lines
that together indicate sizes of something
Why dimensioning?
Some people need or want to use paper
drawings when they build something
In many industries, paper drawings are still used
Dimensions carry different information
Drafters rarely draw objects in its actual size

Kinds of dimensions
Linear dimensions(DLI)
Radial dimensions(DAR)
Angular dimensions(DRA)

1. Dimension text

4. Extension lines

Dimension Styles
1. Standard(Imperial-feet and inches)
2. ISO-25(Metric-cm and meters)

Layering
they give way to turn groups of objects on and
off
they provide the best way of controlling object
color, linetype, and line weight

Leader Lines (QLEADER)


Prompts the user to some information about the
drawing

Creating new layers


click the layer button on the layers toolbar or
type LAYER at the command line
click the new layer button
type the name of the new layer
click the color block or color name of the new
layer
click a color to select it as the color for this
layer then click ok
click the linetype name of the new layer
click the desired linetype
click the layers lineweight
click OK

Draw the figure above and indicate dimensions
and layers in each view
