09:40

Departure from Minibus Station towards

Starting Point (49Q 0767 8601).

Significant waiting time due to large size

of the party, as will as infrequent number
of buses available.

10:20

Arrival at Starting Point (49Q 0767 8601),

departure to embark on expedition.

Team A and B split at this point, with

Team B departing 30 minutes after Team
A.

Weaved through alleyways of village

under Cloudy Hill.

Teams struggles to find the Start Point,

since there were so many different alleys
in the area, and our maps did not provide
extremely accurate information regarding
small roads like those.

10:50

11:00

Change in route due to inaccurate route

planning in proposal. Team A and Team B
will approach Checkpoint 1, or Cloudy
Hill, via two different routes.
Team A: Southern route, following electric
pythons up towards Cloudy Hill.
Team B: Northern route, through Kat Tsai
Shan Au.
(Team A)
Departure from Starting Point, south
towards a self-devised new route.
(Team B)
Arrival at Kat Tsai Shan Au.

Team A walked ahead along the original

route, to find that part of the route has
been cut off by a landslide, and there is in
fact no trail noted there on the map.
Change of route was confirmed with
leaders, and across the Teams, via phone
calls.

11:40

(Team B)
Stop at pavilion past C2204 for lunch
break.

12:00

(Team B)
Departure from pavilion past C2204 after
lunch break.

Canned soup and snacks.

Passed W106 - W111 (Wilson Trail).

13:00

(Team B)
Arrival at Checkpoint 1, Cloudy Hill (49Q
0888 8834).

Contacted Team B at this point, to find

that their route was much more difficult
than expected, and therefore will take
extra time to arrive at Checkpoint 1.

13:30

(Team B)
Arrival at Checkpoint 2, Trig Point near
Sha To Lung (49Q 1045 8776).

Observed beautiful views across the ridge

line.

14:10

(Team B)
Arrival at Checkpoint 3, Trig Point near
Ma Tseuk Tong (49Q 1120 8867).

(Team B)
Doubled back towards Checkpoint 2, and
turned North to a trail leading towards
Sha Lo Tung.

At this point, it was observed on the map

that the distance between Checkpoint 4
and Checkpoint 5 could not be crossed,
as there is no trail going between the two
locations. As a result, Team A decided to
loop back to Checkpoint 1 at Cloudy Hill
via Sha Lo Tung, where we can proceed
North through the Wilson and country
trails towards Checkpoint 5.

(Team B)
Arrival at Checkpoint 1, Cloudy Hill (49Q

Team B had mistakenly carried Team As

food supplies for the day, and therefore
the teams convened upon Cloudy Hill to
swap resources and supplies. Afterwards,
the team remained together for the
remainder of the trip.

15:30

(Team A)
Arrival at Checkpoint 1, Cloudy Hill (49Q
0888 8834).

Team As route was filled with wild shrubs

and growth, and therefore required
extended efforts to bushbash through the
terrain. This delayed the p[lans
significantly, but shows their remarkable
resilience under new challenges.

their way to Shun Yeung Fung Peak, and
then make a decision whether or not to
go down the mountain immediately with
an alternate trail.
