My organizational analysis was done on Spectrum Human Services located in Westland,
Mi. Spectrum services neglected, abandoned, mentally and physically challenged and delinquent
youth. Spectrum has several facilities throughout the state of Michigan. The organizational chart
for Spectrum lists the change of command and all the levels of services that are offered. During
my research, I found that spectrum is active in the community and promotes within the
organization. I was able to expand my knowledge as I learned about how Spectrum operates on
the Macro level of social work. Spectrum has several committees within the agency that assist
with the operations of the organization. One of the committees is called quality assurance this
committee ensures that all the necessary requirements of the organization are being met.
Spectrum's main office in Westland handles the day to day operation off all the other
affiliating agencies and services. During my visit to Spectrum, I had the opportunity to sit and
observe various departments and see how social work skills and techniques are used to address
client situations. I was able to use my communication and interpersonal skills with staff members
who work directly with clients in individual or group treatment.
I observed the structure of the agency and seen the accreditations the agency received
from the funding partners. I learned about the agency, licensing, agency policies, documentation,

recipient rights, requirements for new employees and the agency confidentiality standards. I was
informed by the agency social worker that Spectrum Human Services is highly regulated by the
state.
