My father belonged to a low-income family but despite the odds, he dared to start his own business.

This was instrumental in bringing financial stability to our house. Watching him scale his business into
a strategy and operations management consultancy with his hardwork and perseverance instilled in me
an inclination to learn from him. Hence, I worked with him for two years. I learnt from him to dissect,
investigate, plan and resolve business complications. I was responsible for identifying potential growth
markets, setting up distribution chains, and working with licensing and regulatory authorities for our
clients. This work introduced me to project planning, strategic designing, time management and
conflict resolution and sparked in me the desire to formally study law and management.

I enrolled for a Bachelor's in Law at NLUO. The curriculum focussed on accounting, economics,
social and cultural rights, and international and business law and consisted of a myriad of subjects
which gave me insight into optimizing organizational rules and leveraging legislative policies for
scaling businesses globally. I also became cognizant of my predilection towards research when I
assisted my professor, Dr. Tripathi, in his investigation on “Business ethics and Social responsibility”,
which analyzed employee satisfaction with respect to social empathy of a company and labor laws of
the territory. My hard work was rewarded when his referral gave me an opportunity to work with Dr.
Ali on his research titled ‘Simplifying language and documentation of Insurance Contracts’. In this
research, we analyzed the impact of insurance policy text on customers. I defined a baseline for
classification of text complexity, categorized existing insurance policies, drafted new insurance
policies for each bucket, conducted field study to collect customer feedback, and evaluated the
responses. We discerned the customers’ preference for comprehensible and plain language policy.
This research had a profound impact and has been a differentiator for a local new-age insure-tech
startup.

As a firm believer that art and sports are vital ingredients for the holistic development of body and mind, I
have been involved in sports, and theater. I was the captain of my soccer and basketball team and also
represented my college in badminton as well. During a soccer match, I broke my ankle and had to undergo
multiple surgeries with complete bed rest for three months. After returning to college, I was unable to get
involved in physical activities, so I shifted my focus towards sports mentorship which included coaching
the soccer and basketball teams to the championship title. This played a huge part in my progression from
an individual contributor to a team leader and intrigued me about mentoring and team management.

Following my graduation, I joined Actus Legal as a consultant in the strategy and legal department where I
worked on handling mediations, resolving disputes between the parties and formulating intervention
blueprints to avoid lengthy and rigorous litigation. In my second year at the job, I was promoted to senior
consultant and team lead as recognition for my work with start-ups in helping them raise funds, solve
complex problems and tactically incorporate financial regulation. I currently lead a team that handles
transaction management, client engagement and financial planning where I oversee end-to-end project
delivery. I am primarily responsible for overseeing and coordinating the people, resources and processes
required to deliver results. I scope projects, evaluate risks, prioritize tasks, manage timelines, validate
decisions and am also involved in hands-on delivery. My team has successfully delivered many projects,
one of which was to standardize the raw material payment dispute resolution process; a project that has
improved our margin by 40% by reducing time and resources requirement for handling payment disputes.
I have always aspired to give back to society. Hence, since undergraduation I have been a part of ‘Zenith-
Feel the Change’, a socio-legal empowerment initiative led by youth to run Library-cum-Legal Services
Center. This non-profit runs 'Access to Justice' Program in which we analyze the severity, spread and
resolution mechanism of grievances to prioritize action. We educate, spread awareness, and provide legal
services to individuals from low socio-economic backgrounds. Helping alleviate pain of such individuals
has given me a sense of contentment and has acted as an additional motivation for me to grow
professionally so that I can scale-up my social welfare endeavors.

I want to increase the breadth and depth of my knowledge in business, management, finance and
leadership, which can be achieved by collaborating with the renowned faculty of University of Windsor. I
would consider it fortunate to work with and grow under the tutelage of Professor Jang Singh whose
research on “Changes in the contents of corporate codes of ethics: An institutional interpretation”, I have
referred to and cited in the past. Hence, I would like to be his mentee and contribute to his on-going work
in Business Ethics and Cross-cultural Management. An MBA at Odette School of Business will give me an
opportunity to expand my network, and learn several winning techniques that will hone my technical,
leadership and people management skills.

After completion of my graduate studies, I aim to join a leading consulting firm as a Management
Consultant. I would like my role to entail scaling businesses, solving unique and complex problems, and
providing strategic management advice to corporations, governments and other organizations. I am also
keen to join the “Finance Leadership Development Program” to get exposure to different finance functions,
and develop knowledge and skills to be an effective leader. I would like to utilize my academic and
professional experiences to meet my long term goal of broadening the scope of my father’s consulting firm
and aspire to see it grow into a unicorn and become a public company. I envision my organization working
on the core principles of customer first, environmentally sustainable growth, and equality for a diversified
diaspora through transformational leadership. I recognize how the MBA program's dynamic structure, and
diverse courses such as Leadership & Interpersonal Dynamics, Business Negotiations, Strategic
Management, and Entrepreneurship: New Venture Formation will aid me in achieving these goals.
