Reflection

Type of activity: Teaching and Learning session (Reading)


Date: 06/05/2015

Time: 0950-1050

Class: 5Kuning

Issues/Challenges:
During the lesson, at the set induction stage, I showed a map of Sabah and Sarawak to
the pupils. I asked some questions regarding the map. Then, I asked the pupils to read a text in
the PowerPoint slide. After that, I asked the pupils to read the text again and stressed out on
places in the text by waving their hands. At the practice stage, I divided the pupils into group of
five. Each group had to complete the puzzles by answering the questions given in the slide. At
the production stage, I conducted the Running Dictation.
Analysis of issues focused:
Strengths:
The activities ran smoothly. They took part throughout the activities actively. During the
Running Dictation the noisiness level of the pupils still can be controlled. During the closure
stage, the pupils were very excited to pass the teddy when I played the song.
Weaknesses:
However, I realized that when it comes to answering the questions at the closure stage,
some of the pupils were too shy to go to the front and answer the questions.
New knowledge learned:
Based on the lesson, I realized that if I conducted interesting activities, the pupils will be
attracted to take part throughout the lesson.
Suggestions for improvement:
I should guide the pupils to answer the questions. This will prevent them from being too
shy to answer the questions.
