Time: 40 minutes

A) COGNITIVE OBJECTIVES:
- to talk about things in a room
- to talk about location;
B) AFFECTIVE OBJECTIVES:
- to create a warm atmosphere in order to offer the background for smooth, easy conversations
between teacher and students
- to make students confident in themselves.

Anticipated problems:

Some students may be shy to speak English . The teacher will encourage them to speak
English (and to have fun,).If they remain silent, they are less likely to learn. T. will explain to
them that it is better for them to risk getting something wrong, than not to say anything. All
learners need to experiment and make errors.
CONTENTS:

‘Who’s absent today?’

Activity 1: Warm-up (5’)


Skills: Speaking
Aim: to consolidate the previously acquired knowledge
Class Organization: T- Ss, SS-T
Procedure: Teacher welcomes the class by saying ‘Hello!’ to each pupil and showing the cards I’m happy / I’m sad
today, and asks them “How are you today?” and Ss give their answers. Then Teacher introduces the class a game called

“Quiz Show” on Wordwall and the Ss answer the questions, one by one, as fast as they so the time
does not run out (35 seconds for 9 questions).

Activity 3: Checking homework ( 5’)


Skills: Speaking and Writing
Aim: To check the previously acquired knowledge
Class Organization: T- Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: T asks students to read their homework ( ex. 3, 4/page 37) and the T writes the
correct answers in the chat/virtual whiteboard so that the Ss can correct in their notebooks the
mistakes.

Activity 4: Introducing new vocabulary (5’)


Skills: Listening , Speaking and Writing
Aim: to acquire new vocabulary related to the objects in the house
Class Organization: T- Ss, Ss- T
Procedure: Teacher introduces the new lesson and the vocabulary ( 5a Come out!- pages
38-39). T write on the virtual whiteboard/chat the date and the title of the new lesson. T asks
SS to listen and repeat the new words, then Ss write them in their notebook.

Activity 5: Role- Play the lesson (7’)


Skills: Listening and Reading
Aim: to practise reading skills
Class organization: T- Ss, Ss- Ss

Procedure: T asks the Ss to watch the story and then to act out the story by role- playing.

Activity 6: Introducing prepositions of place-( 8’)


Skills: Speaking and writing
Aim: To Introduce the meaning of the prepositions by giving clear examples
Class organization: T- Ss, Ss- T
Procedure: Teacher asks the Ss to read the sentences about Alvin, by answering the
question: “ Where is Alvin?”. T explains the new words and asks the students to watch a
video on YouTube about the prepositions of place: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=QYerFOnPxu8.

Activity 7: Practice the prepositions of place- (6’)


Skills: Speaking
Aims: to practise the use of the prepositions
Class organization: T- Ss, Ss- Ss- Ss
T shows the students a series of flashcards and starts with an example of question and
answer: A: “Where is the ball?”
B: “ The ball is on the box.”
Then allows the students to practice by asking the question and giving the answer.

Activity 8: Homework (2’)


Aims: to consolidate the newly acquired knowledge
Class organization: T- Ss
Procedure: Teacher asks the students to do as homework, ex. 3/page 39.
T praises the Ss for their great work during the activity and awards them marks.
