ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

OBJECTIVE:
The assignment provides opportunities for learners to understand various challenges in
developing curricula for schools so that they will have the skills to develop a course module
for a program of study in the future.

INSTRUCTIONS:
You are required to complete all TWO parts of the assignment.

PART I
TASK A: REVIEW OF ARTICLES (20 MARKS)
Curricula are defined at various levels, the state (macro) and school/classroom (meso/micro)
levels being the most well-known. Because of this, the curriculum is not only a concern of
governments but also of schools and teachers. However, increasingly, due to the globalization
of society curriculum questions are also a concern of supranational levels.

You are required to review 2 to 3 journal current articles (2017-2022) or chapters of a book
on challenges that affect curriculum development in the future. Based on your review of the
articles, write a summary to address the following questions:
• Why is there a need to revamp the current curriculum?
• What are the areas or domains that should be emphasized in the future curriculum?
• What are the suggestions made to ensure the future curriculum is well received?

TASK B: COURSE DEVELOPMENT (30 MARKS)


The purpose of this section of the assignment is to give you practice in developing course
outcomes, content, suggested learning activities, and measurement of course outcomes for
a course of study at your own institution. The course that you are developing should be aimed
at enhancing higher-order thinking skills and problem-solving skills.

PART II:
ONLINE CLASS PARTICIPATION (10 MARKS)
This part requires students to participate actively in the MyINSPIRE eforum. Discuss the
following topics in the forum and submit proof of your participation with your tutor and peers
in the eforum online discussions:

(a) How can curriculum development incorporate elements that foster emotional
intelligence in students? What are the potential benefits and challenges of doing so?
(b) How does the affective domain influence student motivation and engagement?
Discuss strategies that curriculum developers can use to enhance students' intrinsic
motivation to learn.
(c) How can curriculum development address the emotional well-being of students from
diverse cultural backgrounds? What role does cultural sensitivity play in the affective
domain of learning?

OBJEKTIF:
Tugasan ini memberi peluang kepada pelajar untuk memahami pelbagai cabaran dalam
membangunkan kurikulum untuk sekolah supaya mereka mempunyai kemahiran untuk
membangunkan modul kursus untuk program pengajian pada masa hadapan.

ARAHAN:
Anda dikehendaki melengkapkan kesemua DUA bahagian tugasan.

BAHAGIAN 1
TUGASAN 1: SEMAKAN ARTIKEL (20%)

Kurikulum ditakrifkan pada pelbagai peringkat, peringkat negeri (makro) dan sekolah/bilik darjah
(meso/mikro) adalah yang paling terkenal. Oleh sebab itu, kurikulum bukan sahaja menjadi perhatian
kerajaan tetapi juga sekolah dan guru. Namun, semakin, disebabkan globalisasi persoalan kurikulum
masyarakat turut menjadi perhatian peringkat supranasional.

Anda dikehendaki menyemak 2 hingga 3 artikel semasa jurnal (2017-2022) atau bab dalam
buku tentang cabaran yang mempengaruhi pembangunan kurikulum pada masa hadapan.
Berdasarkan ulasan anda terhadap artikel tersebut, tulis ringkasan untuk menjawab soalan
berikut:

• Mengapakah terdapat keperluan untuk merombak kurikulum semasa?


• Apakah bidang atau domain yang perlu dititikberatkan dalam kurikulum akan datang?
• Apakah cadangan yang dikemukakan untuk memastikan kurikulum akan datang diterima
dengan baik?

TUGASAN 2: PEMBANGUNAN KURSUS (30%)
Tujuan bahagian tugasan ini adalah untuk memberi anda latihan dalam membangunkan hasil
kursus, kandungan, aktiviti pembelajaran yang dicadangkan, dan pengukuran hasil kursus
untuk kursus pengajian di institusi anda sendiri. Kursus yang anda bangunkan harus bertujuan
untuk meningkatkan kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi dan kemahiran menyelesaikan masalah.
