Responsible for all real property owned and operated by Independent Bank
Corporation, which consists of 140 bank branches, 20 loan production offices,
and several corporate operations offices approximately 200 total properties.
Responsibilities included all real estate acquisition including lease negotiations
and administration as well as all equipment purchasing and service contract
administration. My goal is to take care of the real property so that the bank
employees and management can concentrate on being bankers and serving the
customers. The bank has grown from 42 total branches and $850 million in asset
size to it’s current size of approximately $3.5 billion in asset size during my
tenure as Facilities Manager.

Responsible for budgeting, specification writing, writing operational procedures


and coordinating facilities operation for over 350 facilities in Michigan, Illinois,
and Indiana. Responsible for the maintenance of 700,000 sq. ft. of high rise
office space and covered parking ramp in downtown Grand Rapids, also bank
branches in Holland and Grand Rapids, MI. Duties included implementation and
modification of Preventative Maintenance Program. Supervision of HVAC
Mechanics, Electrician, Maintenance Workers, Custodial Staff and Security Staff.
Coordinate the design and construction of maintenance rehabilitative projects
such as the rebuilding of the cooling tower and the replacement and upgrade of
HVAC equipment. Additionally assigned the Department Network Administrator
for Novell Netware 4.1 software, EPA Green Lights Administrator, the
Hazardous Materials Administrator, and the Facilities Coordinator for the Old
Kent River Bank Run. Responsible for the normal operations of 33 year old
buildings during the modernization and remodeling of the building systems and
common areas. During system modernization process, directly coordinated over
$7 million in projects while administering $2 million in maintenance budgets.

I began with Hughes as Maintenance Coordinator, overseeing all maintenance


projects that required outside contractors to complete and ensuring all maintenance
contracts were properly administered and fulfilled. After two years in this position,
I
was promoted to Maintenance Supervisor where I supervised a crew of twelve
HVAC mechanics, thirteen electricians, two carpenters, two plumbers and seven
maintenance workers. I served in this position for three years before again being
promoted to Sr. Project Engineer, coordinating and overseeing the design and
construction of all mechanical projects within the group.

Leading Petty Officer of “M” Division. Responsible for the training and supervision
for thirty one subordinates, also the preventative maintenance cycles and repair of the
main engine and electrical generating equipment along with all associated auxiliary
equipment. Fully qualified on 1200 lb. steam generation plants.
