Penn Wood High School is developing strategies to increase attendance rates and lower suspension rates. They are reaching out to Penn Wood alumni to participate in a new freshman orientation program. During orientation, freshmen will meet their teachers, learn school routines and rules, and have the opportunity to hear stories from alumni about their experiences at Penn Wood High School. Alumni are asked to fill out a form if interested in participating and sharing their unique perspective as successful graduates.

We
need
your
help!
We
are
developing
strategies
to
increase
our
attendance
rates
at
Penn
Wood
High
School,
while
subsequently
lowering
our
suspension
rates.
As
successful
Penn
Wood
graduates,
the
teacher
and
administration
feel
that
you
are
the
best
people
to
turn
to
in
order
to
address
these
issues.
Whether
or
not
you
struggled
with
attendance
and/or
suspension
issues,
you
understand
the
connection
between
being
in
school,
prepared
and
on
time,
and
success
in
school.
We
also
feel
you
can
relate
best
with
them
the
struggles
outside
of
school
that
come
with
this
improvement.
Our
plan
is
to
address
this
issue
from
the
start
of
our
students
high
school
careers.
We
have
developed
a
freshman
orientation
class
that
will
take
place
during
the
first
week
of
school,
September
8-11.
During
this
time,
students
will
have
an
opportunity
to
follow
their
schedule
without
upperclassmen,
meet
their
teachers,
and
learn
the
most
important
routines
and
rules
to
follow
in
order
to
have
a
successful
high
school
experience.
This
is
where
you
come
in.
We
would
like
to
have
students
meet
with
our
alumni
and
hear
their
stories
from
high
school.
You
can
provide
our
students
with
a
unique
perspective
as
individuals
that
have
successfully
completed
the
journey.
If
you
are
interested
in
participating
in
our
freshman
orientation
program,
please
fill
out
the
attached
form
and
email
it
to
*****@WPSD.EDU.
We
will
then
welcome
you
back
to
PWHS
and
meet
to
discuss
your
story.
We
would
also
appreciate
any
ideas
that
could
enhance
this
experience
for
our
students.
