Adarsh Annapurna is located dead centre in Kalbadevi surrounded by buzz of

activities and lots of people. I'd have never considered a pure veg restaurant
but I'd read good reviews of the restaurant on Zomato. For me food matter....
a lot, but this time it was not about food but more about seeing my friends
most of them I was gonna meet after almost 2 years!! Adarsh Annapurna
does deserve all the ratings it has here and then some more.
The restaurant is located on Puroshattamdas Purohit Marg, near the Adarsh
Hotel. First thing I did was to look for the Adarsh trademark "White Scooter"
and sure enough it was there :P. Though the restaurant looks really small, it is
expanded well on the first floor. It has that rustic feel that Kalbadevi
represents so well. Nothing major to add about ambience as the table and
chair are pretty basic and looked like they were made out of bamboo.
I'd read that the food is really good here, but we were totally blown away by
the quality and quantity both. The food here is amazing!! We started of with
Masala Khichia, which I had no idea, what is. It looked like some kind of big
papad but tasted way better! We had it along woth Rajsthani Lasan Chatani
and little Schezwan chutney. I'd recommend anyone who do not know what a
Khichia is, do come here and try. For starters we ordered Cheese Pakoda and
Paneer Tikka. Shout out to the Cheese Pakoda as I thoght it'd be some kind of
mixture of greated cheese and mashed potatoes. Instead, what you get is
small sliced cubes of deep fried semi melted chees coated with light and
fluffy batter. Those were heavenly!! PErfect with some mint chutney!
For main course we went for cliched Paneer Tikka Masala and Kadhai Paneer.
Though our choice was cliched our food was far from it. We had two vessel
full of sabjis which combined were good enough for six of us. The
combination of Garlic Butter Naan and Kadhai Paneer was match made in
heaven! I didn't know any naan could be crispy and soft at the same time,
just awesome tandoor work there. Now that we were in a Rajsthani restaurant
some of us thought of having some Dal Bati Churma. By this time I had
dropped my cutleries and had surrendered myself to pure bliss. I declined the
invitation, but did try some after watching my friend breaking that Bati and
pouring inhuman amount of ghee (which looked so sinful that it should be
banned just like beef) on to it. The combination of ghee, baati and daal was
just great and I could understand why it is so in demand.
You can't measure the chaos generated by college friends who had got
together for the first time after almost two years. But amidst that chaos our
servers provided us with great service. Our orders were almost materialised
out of thin air. They were very much attentive, no complaints there.
Being a 100% non-vegetarian I'm a bit apprehensive about places that serve
only veg. But I recommend to all non-veg people to go to Adarsh Annapurna

and try the food, I'm sure it'll chase the myth about vegetarian food out of
your mind. Though, I went just to meet my friends over dinner, I had the time
of my life. Definitely it's gonna be a regular place for me.
